Leaking water
One of the most common reasons our engineers are called out to repair a unit is a water leak. As a result, we can normally fix these relatively quickly.
Ice is appearing
The build-up of ice can be a sign of both temperature fault and leaking. Our engineers will examine the unit to determine the cause of the problem. Typically, units that are freezing require a deep clean or a leak fixing.
Not cooling
The inability of your unit to cool air could suggest a gas leak. If you can no longer regulate the temperature of your room or building with your air con unit, we recommend calling our engineers, who will carry out tests on your system and make repairs as necessary.
Gas leak
Your system uses a reserve of refrigerant gas in order to function. If refrigerant gas is leaking from your unit, your air conditioning system will quickly stop working. Contact us and one of our engineers will visit to locate and repair the leak.
Not heating
First check that the system is set to heating mode! This includes checking your infra-red remote controller for power. If your system is still not heating, you likely have a gas leak and should call our team to arrange for an engineer to make repairs.
Stale odours
Air conditioning units produce condensate water, which runs throughout the system before being removed. When exposed to frequently changing temperatures, this condensate is an ideal environment for bacteria, which grow on the coils and produces stale odours. A deep clean will fix this.
Poor airflow
In addition to bacteria, grime and dust can build up inside an air conditioning unit. If you have noticed your air conditioning is not as powerful as it used to be, a build-up of dirt might have begun to block the filters or fan blades. An engineer can fix this with a deep clean, restoring the air flow.
Increased energy bills
When dirt and grime builds up, it is much more difficult for the unit to carry out its primary functions of cooling or heating. This places a greater strain on the amount of electricity needed to power the unit, resulting in less efficient air conditioning and a higher bill, which could have been avoided with frequent servicing.
When the a/c unit stops completely
When the air conditioner shuts down unexpectedly, check the thermostat batteries in the remote controller. If the batteries are dead, replace them. If the batteries are still good, make sure the thermostat is in the “cooling” mode or auto position and at the temperature settings that you desire.
